The Internship Certificate program is a coordinated integration of classroom work and practical experience. It has been an integral part of the College of Business's offerings since the campus was founded in 1959.
Internships provide students with training and experience in business administration. Internship opportunities have been developed for their educational value but also provide remuneration at a level commensurate with that of a college graduate training program. This aspect is considered as an attractive by-product of the program.
In addition to professional training and remuneration, the internship provides other benefits: - a practical test of vocational interests
- immediate application of scholastic knowledge
- development of responsible work habits
- and the prospect of more rapid assumption of professional leadership upon graduation.

| WORDS OF WISDOM | According to Blair Onuzi, a graduate from the University of Michigan Dearborn-College of Business who interned with General Motors, "Hard work does pay off. Even though I was only an intern, I didn't take it less seriously than I would have taken full time employment." She was "eager to gain experience and be able to offer something back." Her reward? A full-time job offer from GM when she completed her internship. Source: Job Postings magazine (January 2007 edition) |
