Hei Wai Lee, Ph.D., CFA, is a Professor of Finance and the Director of International Programs at The University of Michigan – Dearborn. He received an MS and a Ph.D. in Finance from The University of Illinois, and an MBA from The University of Oklahoma. Prior to joining the College of Business, Professor Lee taught undergraduate, MBA and doctoral courses in Corporate Finance, Investments and Derivatives at The University of Illinois, The University of Miami and The University of South Florida. He has also taught in management development programs and CFA review program, and has been a grader of the CFA examinations for the CFA Institute since 1997.

Professor Lee’s current research interests include seasoned security issuance and IPOs, information content of analysts’ coverage, cross-listing of foreign firms, insider trading, value premium anomaly, valuation and capital market research. He has published over 30 articles in refereed finance and business journals and proceedings including Financial Management, Financial Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Financial Research, and Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, among others. Professor Lee has presented over 50 research papers at various national and international conferences, and has been a reviewer for numerous academic journals and conferences. He is also the recipient of best paper award for his scholarly work.

Professor Lee is the founder and the Director of MSF (HK) Program, overseeing student recruitment, admission and advising, as well as the administration of the Program. He also developed the undergraduate finance concentration and led the development and revision of the MS in Finance curriculum. In addition, he has developed and implemented online versions of graduate financial management and investments courses. He is also actively involved in the design of the Executive MBA program.
