Magali Valero, Assistant Professor of Finance. Prior to joining the College of Business in 2004, Professor Valero earned a Licenciatura in Economics from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Mexico, a Master in Science degree in Economics and a Ph.D. degree in Financial Economics from Arizona State University. She previously taught at both universities, where she also served as a research assistant. While at UMD, she has taught courses in international finance, investments, microeconomics and managerial economics. Her research interests include foreign firms’ cross-listings, international initial public offerings, analyst recommendations around the world, and the financial and economic development of emerging markets. She has published her research in Ensayos and Financial Decisions, and has several papers in the works. Her awards include Arizona State’s Preparing Future Faculty Program Fellowship and the Rondthaler Emeriti Professor Award as the outstanding Ph.D. student, as well as many other honors in Mexico. Professor Valero is also a member of the American Finance Association and the Western Finance Association, among other professional societies.
